Zombie Fly is a short sharp work of horror penned for young adult audiences and was written by author Ray Cecire. Blending an unusual combination of horror and romantic comedy genres, this delightfully dark book follows the exploits of Katherine Siles, a nineteen-year-old chemistry student with a bright and promising future ahead. Katherine is no stranger to drama, so when her ex-boyfriend Charles Cruz shows up, it’s clear there will be trouble as she turns him down again. Charles sabotages a potent experiment to teach her a lesson but, in turn, he ends up creating a monster that just keeps growing and growing. All may be lost unless a heroic nerd can step in and save the day.

Author Ray Cecire has a delightful sense of wry humor, pathos and a flair for adding moments of light to his dark tale. Set in the realm of a B-movie style horror monster, but with far better characters and storyline, this fun romp is highly suited to its YA audience for its sharp plotting, quick scene changes and clever use of suspense and surprise. The rom-com plot at the center emerges a little later and is very welcome and adorable to witness, particularly in the dialogue and narrative work that gets us closer to the characters. As far as flesh-eating monsters go, the titular fly sure is deadly and dead fun. Overall, Zombie Fly comes highly recommended for YA readers seeking a thrilling horror romp with plenty of laughs.”
