The endless attractions on both islands are one of the best reasons to travel to New Zealand. New Zealand is one of the most desirable travel destinations in the world. Even if it’s on your travel wish list, a tourist visa is essential to really enjoy what the country has to offer. If you are coming to New Zealand on holiday, you will need an NZeTA or visitor visa. A valid passport and the right visa are important for a smooth entry into New Zealand. Your passport must be valid for at least three months after the intended date of departure and you must be in possession of a valid New Zealand visa, if applicable.

WHAT IS NZeTA?

From 1 October 2019, people entering New Zealand from a visa waiver country must apply for an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority). This new requirement means that people from visa-exempt countries will not automatically receive a visitor visa upon arrival. Travelers are advised to apply online for an NZeTA (New Zealand eTA) three days prior to travel. The NZeTA can take up to 72 hours to process, so it is important to arrange this in advance.

The duration of visa-free stay varies depending on the nationality. Here are some examples of countries that had visa-free access to New Zealand at that time:

1. United States of America

2. Canada

3. United Kingdom

4. Australia

5. European Union countries (Schengen Area)

7. South Korea

8. Singapore

TRANSIT VISA FOR NEW ZEALAND

If you are transiting through New Zealand on your way to another country, you may need a transit visa. Whether or not you need a transit visa depends on your nationality and the length of time you will be in New Zealand.

You will need a transit visa if:

1. You are from a visa-waiver country but you will be in New Zealand for more than 24 hours before continuing your journey.

2. You are from a country that requires a visa to enter New Zealand and you will be transiting through New Zealand on your way to another country.

To apply for a transit visa, you will need to complete an online application form on the New Zealand Immigration website. You will also need to provide supporting documents, such as proof of onward travel and a valid passport.

The processing time for a transit visa application can vary, so it is recommended that you apply well in advance of your travel dates. If your application is approved, you will be issued an electronic transit visa that will allow you to enter New Zealand for the purpose of transit only.

URGENT NEW ZEALAND VISA

If you need to travel to New Zealand urgently and require a visa, you can apply for an urgent visa. An urgent visa application can be processed more quickly than a standard application, but it will usually come at an additional cost.

To apply for an urgent New Zealand visa, you will need to complete the online visa application form and select the “urgent processing” option. You will also need to provide supporting documents, such as proof of travel plans and a valid passport.

It is important to note that the processing time for an urgent visa application can still vary depending on your individual circumstances, and it is not guaranteed that your application will be processed in time for your intended travel dates. Therefore, it is recommended that you apply for an urgent visa as soon as possible and provide all required documents and information to ensure that your application is processed as quickly as possible.

You can also contact the nearest New Zealand embassy or consulate for assistance with your urgent visa application. They may be able to provide additional guidance and support to help expedite the process.

Here are some general steps you can take to apply for an urgent New Zealand visa:

1. Determine the type of visa you need: Before you can apply for an urgent visa, you need to know which type of visa you need to travel to New Zealand. You can find information about the types of visas available on the Immigration New Zealand website.

2. Submit your application online: You can submit your visa application online through the Immigration New Zealand website. Make sure to provide all necessary documentation, including proof of your urgent need to travel.

3. Contact Immigration New Zealand: After submitting your application, you can contact Immigration New Zealand to request urgent processing. You will need to provide evidence of your urgent need to travel, such as medical or humanitarian reasons.

4. Pay the additional fee: If your application is accepted for urgent processing, you will need to pay an additional fee for this service.

It’s important to note that not all visa applications will be accepted for urgent processing, and it’s up to Immigration New Zealand to make this determination. It’s also important to apply for your visa well in advance of your intended travel date to allow sufficient time for processing.
