Wyndly Launches Revolutionary At-Home Alternative to Traditional Allergy Therapy

Y Combinator-backed startup expands access to allergy treatments that were traditionally offered only in offices.

Traditionally, allergy sufferers had to regularly meet with their doctors in order to treat their allergies, but now, Wyndly (wyndly.com) has expanded access to at-home allergy care. Backed by Y Combinator, the startup offers a revolutionary model for allergy therapy that eliminates the need for office visits and treats the underlying cause of allergies. Wyndly’s doctors prescribe medications that desensitize patients to their allergies and provide lifelong allergy relief.

Wyndly grew out of the global demand for telemedicine during the COVID-19 pandemic. Its founder, Dr Manan Shah, an ear, nose, and throat doctor, was inspired to explore alternatives for his allergy patients who were undergoing immunotherapy. Traditional immunotherapy, allergy shots, can only be administered when a doctor is present, and require regular visits to the doctor’s office. Wyndly’s physicians use newer medications that can be taken at home and provide the same results.

Wyndly users identify their allergies conveniently by purchasing an at-home allergy test that scans for the 40 most common allergy allergy triggers — from cat dander to dust to birch pollen (available at wyndly.com/allergy-test). Once their allergens have been identified, patients meet with a physician online to create a personalized immunotherapy plan that offers lifelong relief by treating the underlying cause of their allergies.

“There are 50 million allergy sufferers in the United States. But there are only 6,000 allergists – that’s not enough. Too many allergy sufferers settle for inadequate over-the-counter remedies that only manage their symptoms instead of addressing the root cause of their allergies,” says Dr. Manan Shah. “The way we treat allergies today, with antihistamines and nasal spray doesn’t solve the underlying problem; it just tries to cover it up. Accessible allergy immunotherapy is the future. And in the future, taking antihistamines for allergies is going to seem like taking a painkiller for an ear infection. Why would you treat the symptoms when you could treat the root cause?”

Wyndly is poised to continue taking allergy care in a groundbreaking direction that prioritizes patient comfort and convenience. Wyndly’s doctors are passionate about connecting their patients with affordable, practical treatments that challenge traditional ideas about what allergy therapy looks like and what is involved in accessing it.
