Up Cancer to hold a 3-day virtual conference for young adult cancer patients

March 03
08:12 2021
Call of Courage: Hope Starts Now is a no-cost young adult cancer conference with over 30 break-out sessions aimed towards healing, love, and support.

Rocky Hill, CT, United States Up Cancer has set the date for their virtual conference for young adults across the country. Call of Courage: Hope Starts Now will be a three-day online conference held from the 5th to 7th  of March 2021. It is a no-cost conference, and anyone with cancer, or with a cancer patient close to their heart, can join in as well.

Cancer is physically challenging, financial draining, and emotionally difficult. The management at Up Cancer understands that being a young adult with cancer has a wide range of challenges. Many young adults with cancer have just entered the workforce or started college. Some may have young children and must learn how to talk to their 5-year-old about their cancer diagnosis.

Especially during COVID-19, everyone dealing with cancer is feeling more isolated from their usual support network. With over 500,000 people dying from COVID-19, there will be a discussion on how to live with grief. Many people feel lost in their next steps. This is why the team decided to hold a conference, so everyone can come together to weep and enjoy life more.

With over 30 breakout sessions, people in or out of cancer treatment and their friends and family will come together in unity to be educated and empowered during this unwanted cancer journey. They will learn tips on coping with a cancer diagnosis, managing finances, improving relationships, and managing pain during cancer. Cancer patients who learn how to manage pain will live longer and better lives.

Caregivers, friends, and family will learn about their loved one’s cancer diagnoses from oncologists around the country. They will learn how to manage their own emotional health and learn how to be a better caregiver though all the stages of the unwanted cancer journey.

Here is what the 3-day event is going to look like:

Day 1: Sessions with oncologists from around the country who specialize in the most common young adult cancers. The special guest for the day will be Dr. Saketh Guntupalli who co-wrote a book with Maryann Karinch about love, intimacy, and romance after diagnosis.

Day 2: Break-out sessions on many topics.

Day 3: Break-out sessions on many topics.

No matter where a person is on this unwanted cancer journey, it is important to incorporate hope as a coping method. Cancer is an obstacle that no one wants, and through this conference, Up Cancer aims to help people rise above their problems and live an empowered life.

By attending the Call of Courage Conference, a cancer survivor who is in treatment or out of treatment will gain tips on how to heal emotionally and become stronger.  A friend, lover, family member, caregiver, or ally will have a safe space. Anyone can join for informative workshops, creative interactions, and inspiring speaker events at the virtual conference.

The Call of Courage conference is to inspire The Hero within. What makes a hero? It is facing the unknown with determination and courage. It is waking up every day, saying “No, cancer, you cannot take away my happiness, joy, and the right to make our lives count!”
