Quick Mobile Fix Offers an Ultimate Guide on How to Clean iPhone against Covid-19

Let’s be real. These are testing times, and something that we’re all very conscious about is hygiene. Your mobile phone is no exception, and we here at Quick Mobile Fix thought it might be a good idea to help you through some steps on exactly what you can do to clean your iPhone and keep it in tip-top shape.

First of all, let’s start off with what you need to know. It’s important to note that you’re never going to be able to keep your mobile device completely bacteria-free, but it is possible to reduce it and simultaneously keep your phone looking fantastic and protected.

Let’s get started.

Clean your phone, two times a day.

This one seems like a no brainer, but did you know that we on average, touch our phone over 2,700 times a day? Thanks to dscout for finding that one out. Yes, it’s true… we do actually touch our phone that much a day so it’s incredibly important you clean your phone at least two times a day.

How can you do this? First things first, turn off your iPhone.

Generally speaking, most manufacturers will suggest using alcohol wipes as they leave less residue and wipe away easily. But if you can’t get a hold of that, antibacterial wipes are your next best bet. As an absolute worst-case scenario, you could also use household glass cleaners to wipe down your phone.

We do however recommend you take a look at what your phone manufacturer recommends best practice is when cleaning your device. Some phones may have a protective surface over the top of the screen which could be damaged if using the wrong chemical-based cleaner. We’d always advise using simple alcohol wipes, or even soap with water (but only use a damp cloth, do not soak the phone).

Another step you can take if you wish to go further is to use a set of thin tweezers to remove any potential dust or dirt sitting within your charging/headphone ports. Naturally, you should have your phone turned off for this – but it does indeed help in also reducing the risk of those components breaking, especially if you’re experiencing issues with charging.

It’s important to note that you should take care in not allowing any moisture to enter into the open sections of the phone such as the speakers, charging or headphone jack points. The last thing you want is to have liquid damage on your device – but in the event that does indeed happen, we here at Quick Mobile Fix, fortunately, offer a liquid damage repair service you can take advantage of if you’re a UK reader.

Have a case for your phone

This may seem like a rather obvious suggestion, but you’d be surprised how many people wouldn’t even consider this as a contributing factor – but the reality is that having your phone in a case, minimises the area in which bacteria can land and spread. But, and there is an important ‘but’ here… you must ensure you also clean your case regularly. That means taking your phone out of the case at least once a week to remove all the excess build up around the edge of the phone where the case has been.

Maintaining the cleanliness of your phone

Once you’ve cleaned your iPhone, the next step is, of course, to keep it as clean as you can going forward. How might you ask? It’s simple really.

Avoid touching your phone unnecessarily and continue washing your hands as much as you can. The cleaner the surfaces that are touching your device, the cleaner it’ll be. It really is that simple. You could even carry some alcohol wipes on you if you’re travelling in order to clean your device on the go.

Alternatively, there are also alcohol-based cleaning sprays or even carry antibacterial gel for ease of cleaning.

Use cotton buds with a little bit of cleaning agent on them to run along with the bezel of your device and to clean, gently around the camera lens, speakers, buttons and so forth. Once you’ve done this, dispose of them correctly to stop any further contamination.

What equipment will I need?

Well, of course, this varies – but generally, we’d recommend sticking to the safer route of a microfibre cloth to ensure you don’t accidentally scratch or put wear on your device while cleaning it.

What we recommend:

  • Microfibre cloth
  • Alcohol wipes
  • Cotton buds
  • Thin tweezers
