Montshire Pediatric Dentistry Outgrows Office in First Year and Announces Move to Former Space of Andy’s Cycle in Keene

Keene, New Hampshire – October 17, 2019 – One year after opening Montshire Pediatric Dentistry on 340 West Street in Keene, providing affordable and less-invasive care to all children, Dr. Jonny Norris has announced that he will be moving the practice to Winchester Street, in the building formerly occupied by local stalwart Andy’s Cycle (which recently announced its closing).

This larger space is necessary to meet the extraordinary demand for Montshire’s dental services, including teeth cleaning for kids, pediatric dental x-rays, and even services as an emergency dentist for children.

“We opened our doors in August 2018 with 11 patients,” says Norris. “A year later, we have 2,000 patients. And we are so grateful to Keene and the greater community for trusting with the care of your children.”

Acknowledging the local legacy of Andy’s Cycle, Norris says he’s honored to be taking over a space whose now-former owner showed real craftsmanship when he built it. “Bruce is excited about us coming in. It feels like a passing of the torch.”

Montshire takes over the Winchester Street space on October 16, with plans to renovate the space and open doors to their new location in March 2020.

Montshire’s growth beyond Keene

Rapid growth and relocation in Keene occurs alongside Montshire’s merger with a dentistry in Claremont, NH, run by Norris’ longtime friend and colleague Dr. Colin Boswell. The two have joined practices to form a mission-driven, community-minded pediatric dentistry partnership.

Both practices will now be named Montshire Pediatric Dentistry, boosting both dentists’ vision of providing care to any children (12 and under) who come through the door.

“Every child is welcome, and we mean it,” says Norris.

By widening their reach throughout the Connecticut River region, including Vermont and Massachusetts, Norris and Boswell hope that more families learn about Montshire’s commitment to caring for kids of all abilities and from all socioeconomic backgrounds.

For families without insurance or with financial limitations, Montshire offers an affordable annual Membership Plan that includes cleanings, exams, and routine X-rays at no additional cost. Plans range between $264 and $363 per year.

A mindset of love and compassion shapes the work of Montshire Pediatric Dentistry. Norris and Boswell aren’t as motivated by filling cavities as they are by changing behavior and creating positive dental habits in their young patients. “The biggest reward comes from helping a child excel through something difficult, to help them grow and accomplish obstacles in the future,” says Boswell.

Montshire has introduced a less-invasive, less-expensive intervention called silver diamine fluoride (still fairly new to U.S.), which is proving to be a very effective adjunct in treating cavities. Rather than requiring drilling into the tooth, the liquid substance is injected into the cavity, sealing the area from further decay. Norris believes silver diamine fluoride represents “a paradigm shift in dentistry.”

The fewer treatments they have to perform and the less invasive the procedure, the better for Montshire. “We’re looking at what is needed for each child,” says Norris, “not what would be lucrative for us.”

“We want to create a sense of team with the kids and their parents,” adds Boswell, “to let them know that we’re in this together.”
