IOA shines in 2019 rankings – New Leadership shows promise

Insurance Office of America has again grabbed #13 position & #23 position in 2019 Top 100 Property/Casualty Agencies list and 2019 Top 100 Brokers of U.S. Business list.

Washington DC – September 9, 2019 – Insurance Office of America has done it once again. The company has again made it to the list of industry rankings which only speak of continued growth of IOA, despite the recent change in leadership. In fact, the new CEO of the company, Heath Ritenour, has had been hailed as one of the best CEOs of the year in 2018 by Orlando Business Journal.

Heath Ritenour is the able son of John & Valli  Ritenour, the founders of Insurance Office of America.

IOA claimed the #13 position last year in the 2018 Top 100 Property/Casualty Agencies list and this year too it has continued its ranking in the same position in the 2019 Top 100 Property/Casualty Agencies list. Alongside, IOA had grabbed the #23rd position in the Top 100 Brokers of U.S. Business list by Business Insurance. These two rosters enlist the topmost insurance companies across the US and to grab a place here and that too on a continuous basis – speaks of the great élan of an insurance company.

As per the National Underwriter/PIA Independent Agent Study in 2018, just 52 percent insurance agencies in America stress on perpetual planning & technology- the two main aspects that can help a company to survive over time and beat M&A forces. And, according to the study, IOA readily falls among those 52% and knows how to maintain its esteemed position despite turbulent waters.

It all started in the 1980’s when the founder couple decided to reinvent the compensation system for insurance brokers and for better, through their own business. They were motivated to launch a company that both employees and clients wouldn’t wish to leave ever. Finally, in 1988, Mr. Ritenour bought his business book from a broker and, along with his wife, set out to create their dream company. And thus, Insurance Office of Florida was born.

Guided by a futuristic vision, strong determination and rich values, the company upheld a new agency model with a unique commission structure where insurance producers would get equivalent commissions on both new business & renewal.

The new concept set forward by the Ritenours took the market by storm and the company soon started gaining attention from major producers in the other regions as well. The Ritenours received invitation from opening their office in NJ as well. They readily accepted the offer and that started the expansion of the company. It also led to the change of the company’s name to Insurance of America (IOA).

“When we were growing, I had no idea that we would be able to steer a huge multimillion-dollar firm. But we are thankful to God as he had kept on sending us the best people just when we needed them”, stated John.

Some of the major reasons that sets IOA apart in the market are its generational & entrepreneurial model, strong leaders who have also been active producers and the company’s investments in latest technologies.

Right from the founding days, IOA has only grown to heights over the years. When John decided to retire last year, the firm reported to boast  around $200 million+ in revenue. And today, under the able leadership of Heath, the company still continues to rise up further.
